Château Guiraud 2010 Demi is the half-bottle format of Château Guiraud's grand vin from Sauternes in Bordeaux. Guiraud is classified as a 1er Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification of Sauternes and Barsac, and the 37.5 cl bottle is not a separate cuvée, but the same wine in a smaller, more convenient format.The 2010 vintage is a blend of 65% sémillon and 35% sauvignon blanc. The grapes were affected by noble rot and harvested entirely by hand between 20 September and 2 November, through successive selections in the vineyard. That slow, selective picking is central to the wine's identity: concentration built through patience rather than force.
For this year, Château Guiraud points to the relatively cool weather in August and September as an important factor in preserving aroma and acidity. The sizeable share of sauvignon blanc adds to Guiraud's fresh, aromatic signature, while fermentation in barriques and barrel ageing give the wine its depth and structure.
