Product info about Chateau Alcee 2022
Château Alcée 2022 is a red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, made by Nicolas and Cyrille Thienpont. In this vintage the blend is 100% Merlot, grown on clay-limestone and limestone soils on a plateau. That gives the wine its clear dialogue between ripe dark fruit and the fresher, chalky edge associated with its site.Harvest took place between 14 and 22 September. The wine was vinified with whole berries in concrete vats, using pigeage and remontage during fermentation, then aged for 12 to 16 months in 225-litre and 500-litre barrels, around half of which are renewed each year. The result is a Castillon with density and structure, but also with a lively mineral line that keeps the wine from feeling heavy.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we like to highlight for customers who enjoy right-bank Merlot but want something with a distinct Castillon identity. Production was around 3,200 cases, and these are the last bottles in our current stock.
When opened young, decanting for up to about an hour can help soften the tannins and open the aromatics. Available assessments generally place the drinking window from around 2025 or 2026 into the later 2030s.
