Flavour notes
Dark fruit is at the centre of the tasting profile, with blackcurrant, dark berries, cherry, blackberry and blueberry joined by chocolate, pepper and spice. Floral violet notes reflect the Cabernet Franc component, while mint, cedar, tobacco, pencil shavings and graphite add the more classic Pauillac accents. On the palate it is concentrated and powerful, yet supported by freshness. The texture is described as fleshy, rich and creamy, with rounded tannins. The finish is long, with blackcurrant and liquorice carrying through.

Product info about Chateau D'armailhac 2022 Magnum (1,5l)
Château d'Armailhac 2022 Magnum brings together the identity of Pauillac, the presence of a 1.5 litre bottle and the pedigree of a château classified as a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in 1855. It is a red Bordeaux with a serious frame, and in this format it has the sense of a bottle chosen for a considered table or for further cellaring. These are the last bottles. The 2022 blend is led by 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by 22% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine its backbone, while the relatively high share of Cabernet Franc is part of the château's recognisable signature and links naturally to the floral and spicy notes described for this vintage. The estate vineyard covers more than 80 hectares in the northern part of Pauillac, spread across four gravel rises with varied soil types.
The growing season was sunny and dry, with heatwaves during the cycle, yet spring and June rain helped replenish the soils. The château reports healthy grapes, small berries and strong concentration. In the cellar, the work follows classic Bordeaux precision: hand harvesting, careful sorting, separate vinification where needed and around 18 months in French oak barrels, about half of them new.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pauillac we present to customers looking for structure, dark-fruited depth and genuine ageing potential. If opened young, it benefits from air and a serving temperature around 16 to 18 °C, especially alongside beef, lamb, game birds, sauced dishes or mature hard cheeses.
Dark fruit is at the centre of the tasting profile, with blackcurrant, dark berries, cherry, blackberry and blueberry joined by chocolate, pepper and spice.
