Baron de Brane 2022 is the second wine of Château Brane-Cantenac, from Margaux in Bordeaux. Its appeal lies in that connection: it comes from the same estate background as the grand vin, yet is made to be more approachable at an earlier stage.The 2022 vintage was shaped by an exceptionally dry, warm and sunny growing season, followed by an early harvest. Merlot takes the lead in the blend, supported by cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and a small proportion of petit verdot. That explains much of the wine's feel: the merlot brings roundness and suppleness, while the cabernets add structure, freshness and aromatic definition.
The wine is drawn from specific estate parcels, including terraces with different contributions: one associated with lighter, more elegant fruit, the other with additional structure. Ageing for 12 months in French oak barriques, partly new and partly one-wine barrels, gives support without turning the wine into an oak-driven style.

Ch Brane Cantenac is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Margaux appellation within the Medoc. The estate carries the full name Chateau Brane-Cantenac and has a long history dating back to the 18th century. In 1855, the chateau was recognized as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé during the famous Bordeaux classification, indicating an established reputation within the region. The current owner is the Lurton family, who have managed the estate since 1925; currently, Henri Lurton is at the helm. The vineyard covers an extensive area, mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon as the primary grape, supplemented by Merlot and smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carmenère. Brane-Cantenac is known for elegant and refined wines that are typical of Margaux, with an aromatic profile that combines fruit, flowers, and subtle wood tones.
