Chateau Bellefont Belcier 2022 in magnum is a serious Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé from a 14-hectare estate on the southern slope of Saint-Emilion, in Saint-Laurent-des-Combes. Its clay-limestone soils, with Molasse du Fronsadais, are an important part of the wine's identity and help explain the mineral tension described in the tasting notes.The 2022 blend is led by Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. That combination gives the wine its dark-fruited depth, while the Cabernet Franc is noted for bringing freshness and drive. This vintage was also the estate's second year of conversion to organic farming.
In the cellar, the grapes were sorted and received by gravity, then macerated and fermented in small temperature-controlled concrete vats. Ageing took place in a mix of new barriques, one- and two-wine barriques and ovoid wooden foudres. It is a thoughtful élevage, adding framework without making the wine only about oak.

Château Bellefont-Belcier is a French winery located in the prestigious Saint-Émilion region in Bordeaux. The estate has a long history dating back to the nineteenth century and covers a vineyard of about 13 hectares on the slopes around Saint-Laurent-des-Combes. The vineyards include traditional Bordeaux grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, which together produce elegant red wines with a characteristically balanced profile. Due to the specific location on the limestone and clay soils of the plateau, the château has excellent terroir characteristics, which can be tasted in the depth of the wines. Bellefont-Belcier has been a Grand Cru Classé within the Saint-Émilion classification since 2006, which recognizes the estate for its consistent quality.
