Product info about Blason De L'evangile 2022
Blason De L'Evangile 2022 is the second wine of Château L'Evangile in Pomerol, made on the same estate as the Grand Vin but with a more approachable, earlier-drinking expression in mind. It gives a clear view of the estate's style without asking for the same level of patience.The blend is 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from lighter clay-sand and silty sandy slopes with clay in the subsoil, parcels that the estate associates with a suppler, more fruit-led wine than the Grand Vin. In the early, dry and warm 2022 vintage, selection at harvest was especially important: riper west-facing grapes were picked separately, while east-facing fruit and deliberately early-picked Cabernet Franc helped bring freshness into the blend.
The winemaking was kept measured. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled concrete vats, with gentle pump-overs and maceration designed to preserve fruit rather than draw out hard tannins. Ageing lasted around 16 months, mostly in French oak barrels that had already held one wine, with the remainder kept in vats.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pomerol we like to place in front of someone who wants to understand Château L'Evangile through a wine that is polished, serious and less demanding in its timing than the Grand Vin. With only the last bottles remaining, this 2022 is becoming a more limited opportunity.

Château L'Evangile is a French winery located in the famous appellation of Pomerol, part of the Bordeaux region. The estate, situated on the right bank of the Gironde river, enjoys great renown in the wine world for its elegant and deep red wines, mainly made from Merlot, often supplemented with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc. Château L'Evangile has a history dating back to the 18th century and is one of the established names of Pomerol, despite the fact that the region itself has no formal classification system like other parts of Bordeaux. The winery has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1990, who are known for their meticulous viticulture and respect for tradition.
