Château Bouscaut Blanc 2022 is the dry white grand vin of Château Bouscaut in Cadaujac, within Pessac-Léognan. As a Grand Cru Classé de Graves, it sits in that particular Bordeaux tradition where white wine is treated with the same seriousness as red: vineyard detail, barrel ageing and structure all matter.The 2022 blend is 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Sémillon. Sauvignon Blanc brings freshness and line, while Sémillon gives the wine its broader, more textured side. Bouscaut places special emphasis on Sémillon here, with a very old ungrafted parcel base of more than 100 years; for this vintage, the average vine age is listed at 40 years.
The growing season was warm, and the white grapes were harvested early, beginning on 19 August. Maturation lasted 10 months in 400-litre barriques, 30% of them new, so the wine carries more than just fruit: there is body, toast and a savoury, spicy frame around its citrus-driven core.
