Château Carbonnieux Blanc 2022 is the dry white grand vin of Château Carbonnieux in Pessac-Léognan. It is not simply a white counterpart to a red wine: Carbonnieux is one of the Bordeaux estates classified in Graves for both white and red, and that sense of seriousness comes through in the way this wine is made.The 2022 blend is 60% Sauvignon and 40% Sémillon. The vintage was warm and dry, giving small, concentrated grapes and low yields. For the white wine, early picking was important to preserve the Carbonnieux style. The grapes were harvested by hand, carefully selected, gently pressed and then fermented and matured in oak vessels on the lees, with the oak described as supportive rather than dominant.

About CH CARBONNIEUX
Château Carbonnieux is a French winery located in the Graves region, south of Bordeaux, and is known as one of the oldest wine chateaux in this area. The estate has a history dating back to the 13th century, when the property was managed by Benedictine monks. In modern times, it is owned by the Perrin family, who have been actively managing and developing the château since the mid-20th century. Château Carbonnieux produces both red and white wines, something quite unique within the classification of the Grands Crus Classés de Graves from 1959, where the chateau belongs to the select group permitted to produce both wine colors. The red wines are made from classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. For the white wine, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are mainly used, resulting in fresh, aromatic, and often mineral wine styles. The winery works with a combination of tradition and modern techniques, with attention to quality and an expression of the unique terroir of the vineyards surrounding the chateau. Château Carbonnieux enjoys international recognition and offers both age-worthy and pleasantly young-drinking wines within their range.
