Product info about Clos Du Clocher 2022 Magnum (1,5l)
Clos du Clocher 2022 in magnum is a dry red Pomerol from Bordeaux, bottled here in the 1.5-litre format. The magnum is not a separate cuvée, but the same wine in a larger bottle, a format that suits shared dining as well as patient cellaring.The estate belongs to the Bourotte-Audy family and lies on the Pomerol plateau, close to the church that gives Clos du Clocher its name. The vineyard is planted on gravel and clay soils, with blue clay and deeper gravel beneath. For the 2022 vintage, the blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, with that significant Cabernet Franc component bringing freshness, nuance and extra definition to the wine.
The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates and sorted before vinification parcel by parcel in small temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats, with barrel vinification also mentioned. Gentle extraction, natural yeasts and around 18 months of ageing shape a wine with serious structure. French oak, approximately 55 to 60% new, contributes notes of chocolate, mocha, espresso, toast and spice without making the wine only about the barrel.
Within the Bordeaux selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, this is a Pomerol for those who appreciate depth, structure and ageing potential. Clos Du Clocher is a wine brand from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically originating from the commune of Pomerol. The estate was established at the beginning of the twentieth century and has steadily grown over the years. Clos Du Clocher currently owns a vineyard area of approximately 5.9 hectares and is mainly planted with Merlot, which is characteristic for Pomerol, supplemented with a smaller share of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil of the estate consists of clay and gravel, which are known in the region for their favorable influence on the ripening of Merlot grapes.
