Clos La Gaffelière 2022 is the second wine of Château La Gaffelière in Saint-Émilion, made as a separate wine rather than a simplified version of the grand vin. It comes from a Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Franc, rooted in clay slopes and lower-slope parcels around Saint-Émilion.The detail behind the wine is worth noting. Grapes were hand-picked, sorted by density and vinified parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Ageing lasted 12 months, split between barriques and vats, with only a measured proportion of new oak. That keeps the focus on the 2022 vintage's fruit, freshness, spice and chalky line rather than letting oak dominate.
