Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2022 shows Pauillac in a clear and approachable way. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, while Merlot adds roundness and texture. As the second wine of Château Clerc Milon, it comes from the same estate and terroirs as the grand vin, but is shaped as a more accessible interpretation, with fruit, freshness and supple structure at the centre.The 2022 vintage was formed by a warm, dry and sunny growing season. Harvest took place from 9 to 26 September, with small, healthy and concentrated berries. In the cellar, grape varieties and plots were handled separately before the final blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère and Petit Verdot was created.
What makes this release especially interesting is that the ageing does not seem built around the impact of new oak. The available information points to used barriques, with part of the wine also raised outside the classic barrel route.
