Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge 2022 Magnum is a red Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan, produced at Château Smith Haut Lafitte. It is positioned as the estate's second wine, yet the supplied details make clear that it is handled with the same care as the Grand Vin. Smith Haut Lafitte is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, south of the city of Bordeaux. The estate has a history dating back to the 14th century, but the name Smith Haut Lafitte became known in the 18th century thanks to the Scottish merchant George Smith, who acquired the estate and linked his name to it. Today, the Château is owned by Daniel and Florence Cathiard, who have been managing it since 1990. Smith Haut Lafitte produces both red and white wines, with the reds generally made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the whites mainly from Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris. The estate is often praised for its focus on traditional winemaking, combined with modern techniques, including careful selection of grapes and sustainable viticulture methods.
