Château La Tour Blanche 2022 Magnum presents the grand vin of a Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé in a 1.5 litre bottle. It is a sweet white wine from Bordeaux in the classic liquoreux style, where concentration and sweetness are at their best when lifted by freshness and definition.The 2022 vintage has a specific place in the estate's story. A dry, hot growing season was followed by October conditions that allowed noble rot to develop. The grapes were hand-harvested in three successive tries between 24 and 29 October. The blend is 85% sémillon, 10% sauvignon blanc and 5% muscadelle, and the château describes 2022 as its first organic vintage.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Sauternes we like to present with both patience and the table in mind. The wine was aged in new barriques, with 18 months in new French oak mentioned, supporting a rich, rounded style while the available tasting descriptions repeatedly point to freshness, tension and well-judged acidity.
It can be enjoyed young, yet it is clearly also made with ageing in mind, with stated drinking windows extending into the 2040s.
