Manoir De Gay 2023 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux's right bank and the second wine of Château Le Gay, the estate of the Parent family. The 2023 blend is led by Merlot with a smaller share of Cabernet Franc, sourced from the younger vines of the property. That gives the wine a clear Pomerol identity, expressed in a more immediately approachable way than the grand vin.The grapes were harvested by hand and sorted twice, first as whole bunches and then berry by berry. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled truncated concrete vats, with a cold pre-fermentation maceration to draw out the fruit gradually. The wine was then matured entirely in one-year-old barriques, adding structure and polish without turning the wine into a wood-driven style.
The estate describes 2023 as a year of changing weather conditions, though the grapes reached harvest in good sanitary condition. In the glass, the vintage brings together dark fruit, elegance, density and fresh acidity.
