Kranzel Sagittarius Cabernet / Merlot 2018 is a powerful red wine from South Tyrol, made by Kranzelhof in Tscherms/Cermes on the slopes around the Merano basin. It is a cuvée of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with grapes described by the producer as hand-selected from the oldest vines.Sagittarius is made only in special years, giving this wine a more selective place in the estate's range. The vineyards sit at roughly 292 to 700 metres above sea level, on soils with moraine deposits and granite. For the 2018 vintage, maturation of 24 months in barrique is mentioned, fitting the wine's full and structured style: dark fruit, firm presence and a gastronomic character.
