Its identity is closely tied to Rutherford, particularly to the historic BV Ranches No. 1 and No. 2, vineyards associated with Georges de Latour and the early history of the estate.
The 2018 blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec. The grapes were grown on well-draining alluvial fan soils on the western bench of Rutherford, then hand-harvested and optically sorted at the winery. Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a serious Napa Valley red with a strong sense of place. It is the flagship cuvée of Beaulieu Vineyard, built around Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, with a small but important share of Petit Verdot adding aromatic depth and presence.
The fruit comes from the historic BV Ranches No. 1 and No. 2, vineyards closely tied to Georges de Latour himself. That Rutherford origin matters here: the wine has power and density, yet the tannins are described as fine, powdery and polished rather than heavy-handed. The 2019 growing season allowed gradual ripening, bringing full flavour development while retaining freshness and structure.

Beaulieu Vineyard BV Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Magnum is a substantial Napa Valley red in a 1.5 litre bottle. Georges de Latour Private Reserve is the flagship wine of Beaulieu Vineyard, with a first vintage dating back to 1936 and a name that honours the estate's founder.
The 2019 vintage is rooted in Rutherford, especially the historic BV Ranches No. 1 and No. 2. It is made from 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot, with hand-harvested grapes that were optically sorted. Part of the wine was fermented in new French oak barrels, while stainless steel and concrete tanks were also used to help retain fruit freshness. Maturation lasted 20 months in French oak, 95% of it new, giving the wine its firm structure and polished oak signature.
