Chateau Chantegrive Cuvee Caroline 2022 is a dry white wine from Graves in Bordeaux, with more substance and depth than a straightforward crisp white. First created in 1988, Cuvée Caroline is the estate's oak-fermented and oak-aged white Graves, built around texture, ripe fruit and freshness.
The 2022 blend is 50% sémillon, 45% sauvignon blanc and 5% sauvignon gris. The grapes come from vineyards with gravel, rolled stones, fine sand and clay-limestone soils. After hand harvesting and a cold pre-fermentation phase, the wine ferments and matures on fine lees in French oak barriques, half of them new. Nine months of ageing with regular bâtonnage help explain the combination of creaminess, roundness and citrus-driven tension.
