About CARDENAL MENDOZA
Cardenal Mendoza is a Spanish brandy that originates from the city of Jerez de la Frontera, a region known worldwide for its sherry and brandy production. This brandy is produced by Sanchez Romate Hnos., a bodega that dates back to 1781 and thus belongs to the older, still independent wineries of Jerez. Since the introduction of Cardenal Mendoza in 1887, this brandy has borne the name of Cardinal Pedro Gonzalez de Mendoza, a historical figure from the Spanish Renaissance. The character of Cardenal Mendoza is shaped in part by the Solera system aging, where the brandy is aged for a long time in casks that were previously used for sherry, mainly Oloroso and Pedro Ximënez. This gives the final product its distinctive soft, rich taste and deep amber-colored hue. The range mainly includes Cardenal Mendoza Solera Gran Reserva, the flagship and internationally the best-known expression, but older and more exclusive variants are sometimes also part of the offering. With its full flavor and long, smooth finish, Cardenal Mendoza is loved as a digestif, neat or in classic cocktails.
