About LA GRANDE DAME
La Grande Dame is a prestigious champagne produced by Veuve Clicquot, one of the historic houses from the Champagne region in France. This cuvée is named after Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, better known as the Widow (Veuve) Clicquot, an influential woman in the history of the champagne industry. La Grande Dame was introduced in 1972 as a tribute to her two hundredth birthday and has since been considered the flagship of the house. The champagne is made from a selection of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, often with a large proportion of pinot noir, which gives the style strength and elegance. La Grande Dame is only released in the best harvest years as vintage champagne, which means that all the grapes come from one year. Through careful selection of the best base wines and a longer maturation in the bottle, a complex, refined champagne with a recognizable character is created. It is a beloved choice for those interested in the best that the house of Veuve Clicquot has to offer.
