Martell is a French cognac house by origin that belongs to the oldest continuously operating brands in the region. It was founded in 1715 in the city of Cognac, where it has been located ever since. Nowadays, the brand is under the wing of the beverage group Pernod Ricard. Martell focuses on the production of various cognacs in different styles, ranging from accessible blends to high-end expressions with longer aging. The production is characterized by an emphasis on smooth, elegant flavors and a relatively light, fruity character, partly thanks to the use of mainly eaux-de-vie from the Borderies area, alongside other crus. Only grape varieties that are legally permitted for cognac are used. While classic production methods such as distillation in copper pot stills and aging in oak barrels are followed, Martell adds its own signature to the process that is characteristic of the house. The assortment includes well-known names such as VS, VSOP, and Cordon Bleu, supplemented by luxury editions and limited releases. Martell is recognized and distributed worldwide, and the products are widely available both within and outside of France.
