Product info about Valdespino Solera 1842 50cl
Valdespino Solera 1842 is a Spanish sherry from Jerez built on very old oloroso, matured fully under oxidative conditions. What sets it apart in the Valdespino range is its Medium Sweet Oloroso Blend style: the depth of an aged oloroso is kept at the centre, while Pedro Ximénez adds a softer, sweeter layer.The blend is made from 90% Palomino Fino and 10% Pedro Ximénez. The Palomino grapes come from Pago Carrascal within the Jerez production area, from albariza soils with clay and a high calcium carbonate content. Valdespino classifies Solera 1842 as V.O.S., Very Old Sherry, and indicates an average age of more than 25 years. After blending, it continues to mature in its own solera.

About VALDESPINO
The first seeds of Bodegas Valdespino were sown in 1264, when Don Alfonso Valdespino received an estate in Jerez de la Frontera from King Alonso for his help in the struggle against the Moors. Meanwhile, Valdespino is a purveyor to the Spanish and Swedish royal families, among others. Directly next to Macharnudo lies the vineyard of Carrascal, designated as grand cru, where the richest sherries such as Don Gonzalo have their origin. It is here that the Palomino grapes come from. The soil is rich in Albariza, calcareous carbonate and clay. This Oloroso ages for over 20 years in the solera system. The color is mahogany and the aroma contains notes of caramel, roasted almond, raisins and dried apricot. The taste is very intense, round with fine acidity and a finish that lasts for minutes.
