About JACK DANIELS
Jack Daniel lived as a child on the farm of Reverend Dan Call, a few kilometers outside Lynchburg, Tennessee. The reverend had a still, and Jack was immediately interested. The distilling was in the hands of Nearest Green, a black man who at that time was still a slave. Call and Green taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. When Jack took over the whiskey business after the Civil War, he hired the now freed Green as head distiller. Now, more than 150 years later, there are still family members of Green involved with the distillery. That is one of the many remarkable stories surrounding Jack Daniel's Whiskey, one of the largest and most well-known whiskey brands in the entire world.
