Château Haut-Bailly 2005 is the grand vin of the estate in Léognan, within the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The producer describes 2005 as an exceptional vintage, shaped by a dry spring, warm summer days, cool nights and a favourable autumn. Harvesting took place selectively over five weeks, mostly in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day.The blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. That Cabernet-led composition gives the wine its structure, while the ripeness of the vintage brings depth and concentration. It spent 16 months in small oak barriques, 50% of them new, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered according to the vintage information.
Part of the Haut-Bailly identity lies in the careful parcel-by-parcel approach, allowing individual micro-plots to be followed before the final blend is made. The vineyard sits on well-drained gravel, sand and clay soils, with fossils and marine sediments in the subsoil.

Château Haut-Bailly is a well-known name from the French Bordeaux region and is located in the heart of Pessac-Lëognan, just south of the city of Bordeaux. The estate has a history dating back to the 16th century and has long been known for producing red wines mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The château owns around 30 hectares of vineyards on a unique sandy gravel soil, which contributes to the distinctive elegance and structure of the wines. Since 1998, Château Haut-Bailly has been owned by the Wilmers family; recently, ownership has passed on to their descendants, with input from an international team. The winery is known for a refined, balanced style, where power and finesse meet, which is typically appreciated by international wine enthusiasts and critics. In addition, much attention is given to detail and sustainability on the estate, where modern insights are combined with respect for tradition.
