Pagodes De Cos Blanc 2019 reveals a less familiar side of Cos d'Estournel. The estate is historically known for red wines from Saint-Estèphe, yet this is a dry white Bordeaux Blanc, named after the pagodas of Cos d'Estournel. The 2019 vintage is only the second release of this white wine, following its debut in 2018.The blend is led by sauvignon blanc with a smaller proportion of sémillon. Its fruit comes from the vineyards also used for Cos d'Estournel Blanc, and the château describes the wine as the result of fifteen years of experience with white grape growing and white vinification on the estate.
Bordeaux in 2019 saw dry spells, heatwaves and timely rainfall. For sauvignon blanc, the conditions were especially favourable, bringing concentration and depth. About COS D'ESTOURNEL
Cos D'Estournel is a winery from the French Bordeaux region, more specifically from the appellation Saint-Estèphe in the Médoc. The estate, which dates back to the early 19th century, is named after the founder Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, who developed the vineyard on the Cos hill into a distinctive wine estate. Cos D'Estournel is widely recognized as a Deuxième Cru Classé (Second Growth) according to the historical classification of 1855. The winery is known for its stylish, powerful red wines, which are usually blended with a relatively high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented with Merlot and sometimes small quantities of other Bordeaux grapes. The wines of Cos D'Estournel are often deep in color, with aromas of black fruit, spices and sometimes subtle wood, and generally offer great aging potential.
