Product info about Le Petit Mouton 2019
Le Petit Mouton 2019 is the second wine of Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac, made at the same estate as the grand vin and drawn from a selection of the château's younger vines. It is very much a Pauillac wine, but with its own identity within the Mouton Rothschild family.The 2019 vintage is a blend of 68% cabernet sauvignon and 32% merlot. The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates between 18 September and 5 October, vinified separately and bottled at the estate. This vintage is also noted as having spent around 18 months in barrel, with 50% new oak, supporting a wine of depth, concentration and firm but polished structure.
The growing season brought warmth and dryness, with timely rain helping the fruit retain balance. The estate describes the 2019 wines as richly coloured, generous and marked by satiny tannins. At Drankenshop Broekmans, Le Petit Mouton 2019 stands out as a serious Pauillac with clear château pedigree, particularly now that only the last bottles remain.
