Opus One 2018 is a red wine from Napa Valley with a Bordeaux-inspired identity, yet it is unmistakably rooted in Oakville, California. The estate itself was born from the partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, and that meeting of traditions still defines the wine's place and ambition.The 2018 vintage is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The fruit comes from Opus One's estate vineyards in the western part of Oakville AVA, including parcels in To Kalon as well as the Ballestra and River parcels surrounding the winery. After 18 days of skin contact, the wine spent 17 months in new French oak barrels, followed by further bottle ageing before release.
