Opus One 2016 in magnum is the kind of bottle that immediately brings a sense of occasion. This is the estate's flagship wine from Oakville in Napa Valley, made as a Bordeaux-inspired blend with Cabernet Sauvignon at its centre, supported by Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The 1.5-litre magnum is not a separate cuvée, but it does give this vintage a particularly impressive presence.
The fruit comes from Opus One's estate vineyards in the western part of the Oakville AVA, including parcels within To Kalon Vineyard as well as the Ballestra and River parcels around the winery. Opus One 2018 is a red wine from Napa Valley with a Bordeaux-inspired identity, yet it is unmistakably rooted in Oakville, California. The estate itself was born from the partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, and that meeting of traditions still defines the wine's place and ambition.
The 2018 vintage is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The fruit comes from Opus One's estate vineyards in the western part of Oakville AVA, including parcels in To Kalon as well as the Ballestra and River parcels surrounding the winery. After 18 days of skin contact, the wine spent 17 months in new French oak barrels, followed by further bottle ageing before release.

Opus One 2018 Demi is the estate's flagship red wine from Napa Valley in a 37.5 cl half bottle. It is a dry, Bordeaux-inspired blend built around Cabernet Sauvignon, offering the Opus One signature in a smaller, very practical format. For a focused dinner, a careful tasting or simply a moment when a full bottle is too much, the demi size makes real sense.
The background is part of the attraction. Opus One was founded as a collaboration between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi of Napa Valley. Opus One Overture Edition 2021 is a red wine from Oakville in Napa Valley, produced by Opus One as the estate's second wine. The notable point here is that 2021 was the first Overture released as a vintage wine. Earlier Overture releases were built as multi-year blends, while this edition focuses on the character of one growing season.
Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. The fruit comes from Opus One's own estate vineyards, grown organically within the Oakville AVA. The wine saw 19 days of skin contact followed by 19.5 months in new French oak. It carries the precision associated with the estate, yet Overture is selected for a softer tannin structure and a creamier texture than the first wine.
