Château La Conseillante 2018 Magnum is a Pomerol with real presence. The 1.5 litre format makes it a striking bottle for the table or cellar, while the wine itself remains the estate's grand vin: a Right Bank Bordeaux built on merlot and cabernet franc.The 2018 vintage followed a wet spring with a hot, very dry summer and favourable weather into October. According to the estate, the grapes showed ripe pips, thick skins and a high level of polyphenols, so gentle extraction was important. The final blend is 83% merlot and 17% cabernet franc, from vineyards on grey clay and sandy gravel soils.
Maturation lasted 18 months, mainly in new barriques, supported by one-year-old barriques and a small proportion of amphorae. The result is a concentrated Pomerol with a carefully shaped structure rather than sheer weight. Strong reviews from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck, James Suckling and Decanter underline the standing of this vintage, while the wine remains closely tied to the aromatic, silky style associated with La Conseillante.

About CH LA CONSEILLANTE
Château La Conseillante is one of the most renowned wineries in the Bordeaux region and comes from the heart of the Pomerol appellation, an area that is valued worldwide for its elegant and powerful red wines. The château owes its name to Catherine Conseillan, who led the estate in the 18th century and decided to attach her surname to the property. Today, the vineyard covers approximately 12 hectares, most of which is planted with merlot and a smaller portion with cabernet franc. The location on the typical clay and gravel soils of Pomerol contributes to the distinctive character of the wines: velvety, often with pronounced aromas of red fruit, violets, and sometimes subtle truffle notes.
