Chateau La Conseillante 2018 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux and the first wine of Château La Conseillante. The estate covers 11.8 hectares, with grey clay and sandy gravel shaping the vineyard. For this vintage, the blend is 83% merlot and 17% cabernet franc, bringing together merlot's texture and depth with the freshness and spice associated with cabernet franc.The 2018 growing season moved from a wet spring into a long, warm and very dry period from July onwards. The estate chose to harvest at the right level of ripeness and to extract gently, keeping the wine's concentration while preserving a fine, powdery tannic feel. Maturation lasted 18 months, mainly in French barriques, with a small proportion in amphorae.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pomerol we like to present with a little context: it is structured for ageing, yet its appeal is also tied to aromatic precision and texture. The producer estimates around 30 years of cellaring potential, and tasting notes for this vintage suggest that generous aeration can be worthwhile if opened relatively young.

Château La Conseillante is one of the most renowned wineries in the Bordeaux region and comes from the heart of the Pomerol appellation, an area that is valued worldwide for its elegant and powerful red wines. The château owes its name to Catherine Conseillan, who led the estate in the 18th century and decided to attach her surname to the property. Today, the vineyard covers approximately 12 hectares, most of which is planted with merlot and a smaller portion with cabernet franc. The location on the typical clay and gravel soils of Pomerol contributes to the distinctive character of the wines: velvety, often with pronounced aromas of red fruit, violets, and sometimes subtle truffle notes.
