Flavour notes

The aroma brings together lemon, grapefruit and citrus zest with dried pear, nectarine, mango and pineapple. Linden blossom and freshly cut grass add lift, while light vanilla and a smoky nuance reflect the barrel ageing.

On the palate it is dry and medium-bodied, with a creamy texture from lees ageing. Fresh acidity gives the wine its line, supported by chalky or mineral accents and a slight phenolic grip. The finish carries citrus zest, tropical fruit and a savoury edge.

Product info about Chateau Monbousquet 2019 Blanc

Chateau Monbousquet 2019 Blanc is an intriguing white Bordeaux from a property more often associated with red wines around Saint-Émilion. This dry Bordeaux Blanc comes from vineyards near Saint-Émilion and shows a different side of Monbousquet, with Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris playing the leading role in the blend.

The white vines are planted on gravel soils and the grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. Ageing on the lees in French oak barriques, with regular bâtonnage, gives the wine a broader texture and a more layered feel than a purely crisp white Bordeaux. Six months in barrel, including a proportion of new oak, add structure while keeping the Sauvignon freshness in focus.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we like to point out to customers who enjoy discovering the less obvious corners of Bordeaux. It comes from a small white vineyard, is made in limited quantities and only the last bottles remain. The 2019 vintage is also described as suitable for further bottle ageing, giving it interest beyond immediate drinking.

Its place at the table is clear: fish, seafood and dishes with creamy sauces or beurre blanc. Turbot, lobster, scallops or poultry with lemon and herbs all sit naturally alongside a wine that combines freshness, creamy texture and a gentle oak influence.

The aroma brings together lemon, grapefruit and citrus zest with dried pear, nectarine, mango and pineapple. Linden blossom and freshly cut grass add lift, while light vanilla and a smoky nuance reflect the barrel ageing.

About CH MONBOUSQUET

Château Monbousquet is a wine estate in the French Bordeaux region, more specifically in the Saint-Émilion area. The estate has a history dating back to the 16th century, but gained greater recognition in modern times after businessman Gérard Perse acquired it in 1993 and introduced modern winemaking techniques. Château Monbousquet covers approximately 32 hectares with vineyards planted mainly with Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and a smaller proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines of Monbousquet are known for their full-bodied, ripe style and pronounced fruitiness, characteristics often attributed to the combination of grape varieties and the relatively warm microclimate on the estate. Much attention is paid to precision and selective harvesting in both the vineyard and cellar, contributing to the expressive character traits of the wine. In 2006, Château Monbousquet was officially recognized as a Grand Cru Classé in the Saint-Émilion classification, a recognition of the quality the house strives for. In addition to the well-known red wine, the estate also produces a small amount of white wine, usually from Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon. The combination of rich history, terroir and contemporary viticulture make Monbousquet an interesting name within the Saint-Émilion area.
