Chateau Clos Rene 2019 is a red wine from Pomerol, made in a Merlot-led Bordeaux style with Cabernet Franc and Malbec also part of the blend. Its appeal lies in the way ripe fruit, freshness and savoury depth come together, giving the wine substance without making it feel merely powerful.Clos René is a family estate led by Jean-Marie Garde, situated on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau. The vineyard is planted on old gravel and sandy soils over an iron-rich subsoil locally known as crasse de fer. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled cement vats, followed by 18 months in oak barrels, around 30% of which are new.

Clos Rene is a French wine producer located in the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Pomerol wine area on the right bank of the Dordogne. The vineyard of Clos Rene has a long wine tradition that dates back to the end of the 19th century. The name Clos Rene refers to a so-called 'clos', a walled vineyard, which used to be a mark of quality winegrowing in this area. The vineyards cover about 15 hectares and are planted with grape varieties typical for Pomerol, such as merlot, cabernet franc and a small percentage of malbec. Clos Rene wines are usually known for their accessible style, with fruity notes and a soft structure, which means they can be ready to drink relatively young, but also have the potential to age. The Garde family and Jean-Marie Garde have long been involved in managing the estate, and production partly adheres to traditional methods of vinification and maturation in oak. The location on clay and gravel soils contributes to the character of the wine, which is often appreciated for its balance between power and finesse within the Pomerol appellation.
