Chateau Clos Rene 2019 is a red wine from Pomerol, made in a Merlot-led Bordeaux style with Cabernet Franc and Malbec also part of the blend. Its appeal lies in the way ripe fruit, freshness and savoury depth come together, giving the wine substance without making it feel merely powerful.
Clos René is a family estate led by Jean-Marie Garde, situated on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau. The vineyard is planted on old gravel and sandy soils over an iron-rich subsoil locally known as crasse de fer. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled cement vats, followed by 18 months in oak barrels, around 30% of which are new.

After vinification in temperature-controlled concrete vats, the wine matured for 18 months in oak barrels, around 30% of them new. The result is not presented as an oak-driven wine, but as a Pomerol where (…)Chateau Clos Rene 2020

Chateau Clos Rene 2021 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux's Right Bank, showing the fresher, more linear side of the appellation. Rather than leaning on sheer weight, this vintage is described through medium body, a relatively slender frame, red and dark fruit, fine-grained tannins and a restrained oak influence.
The estate's vineyards are located on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau, with gravel, old Quaternary sands and an iron-rich subsoil mentioned in the available product information. The blend is built around Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with Malbec also noted as part of the composition. Chateau Clos Rene 2022 Magnum presents Pomerol in a generous 1.5 litre bottle, without changing the identity of the wine itself. It is still a dry red Bordeaux from the Right Bank, but the magnum format gives it a more considered presence: a bottle for the table, for cellaring, or for a moment when Bordeaux deserves the centre of attention.
The estate has deep roots in Pomerol, with the name Reney recorded as early as 1764. Its vineyard lies on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau, where old gravel and sand sit above iron-rich deposits.
