Clos Rene is a French wine producer located in the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Pomerol wine area on the right bank of the Dordogne. The vineyard of Clos Rene has a long wine tradition that dates back to the end of the 19th century. The name Clos Rene refers to a so-called 'clos', a walled vineyard, which used to be a mark of quality winegrowing in this area. The vineyards cover about 15 hectares and are planted with grape varieties typical for Pomerol, such as merlot, cabernet franc and a small percentage of malbec. Clos Rene wines are usually known for their accessible style, with fruity notes and a soft structure, which means they can be ready to drink relatively young, but also have the potential to age.
