Chateau Clos Rene 2020 Demi is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux's Right Bank, bottled here in the practical 37.5 cl half-bottle format. It is a thoughtful size when you want the depth of a serious Bordeaux without opening a full bottle.Clos Rene works with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The Malbec is one of the details that gives this Pomerol its own identity within the appellation. The vineyard is described as lying on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau, with sandy and gravelly soils over iron-rich clay. Vinification is traditional, with fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete vats and maturation for around 18 months in oak barrels, part of them new.

Clos Rene is a French wine producer located in the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Pomerol wine area on the right bank of the Dordogne. The vineyard of Clos Rene has a long wine tradition that dates back to the end of the 19th century. The name Clos Rene refers to a so-called 'clos', a walled vineyard, which used to be a mark of quality winegrowing in this area. The vineyards cover about 15 hectares and are planted with grape varieties typical for Pomerol, such as merlot, cabernet franc and a small percentage of malbec. Clos Rene wines are usually known for their accessible style, with fruity notes and a soft structure, which means they can be ready to drink relatively young, but also have the potential to age. The Garde family and Jean-Marie Garde have long been involved in managing the estate, and production partly adheres to traditional methods of vinification and maturation in oak. The location on clay and gravel soils contributes to the character of the wine, which is often appreciated for its balance between power and finesse within the Pomerol appellation.
