Tenuta di Nozzole Le Bruniche Chardonnay 2024 brings a white Tuscan perspective to a region more often associated with red wines from Chianti. This Toscana IGT is produced at Tenuta di Nozzole near Greve in Chianti, an estate of Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari with origins dating back to 1300 and owned by the Folonari family since 1971.Le Bruniche is the estate's Chardonnay. The first vintage was released in 1986, following trials with different white grape varieties. On one of Nozzole's higher slopes, with good sun exposure and limestone and marl soils, Chardonnay proved to be particularly well suited.
The winemaking keeps the focus on clarity rather than oak. The must ferments in stainless steel at controlled temperature, after gentle pressing and cold settling. The wine then spends around three months on the lees, undergoes malolactic conversion in stainless steel and rests in bottle before release. The result is a style built around freshness, clean fruit and a mineral impression, rather than barrel influence.
