Product info about Tenuta Di Nozzole La Forra Chianti Classico Riserva Sangiovese 2021
La Forra is the historic Chianti Classico Riserva from Tenuta di Nozzole, the Greve in Chianti estate owned by the Folonari family since 1971. The wine comes from the La Forra area within the Chianti Classico DOCG and is made from Sangiovese. First produced in 1980, it has become one of the estate's defining wines.The vineyards sit at around 300 to 330 metres above sea level on loam and clay soils. For the 2021 vintage, the producer describes a warm, dry summer followed by sunny, breezy September and October conditions with cool nights. That slower final ripening is important here, because the wine carries ripe fruit while retaining the structure expected from a serious Riserva.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel, with around four weeks of maceration. The wine then matured for at least 24 months in barriques before further bottle ageing. The result is a Chianti Classico Riserva where Sangiovese, balsamic depth and clear oak ageing all play their part.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, La Forra 2021 sits naturally among Italian reds with a more structured, gastronomic character. The vintage has also received strong recognition, including 93 points from James Suckling and Wine Spectator, reinforcing its position as an important cuvée for Tenuta di Nozzole.
