Tenute del Cabreo Il Borgo 2019 is a red Toscana IGT from the hills of Greve in Chianti, in Tuscany. It sits firmly in the world of Tuscan red blends often referred to as Supertuscans, bringing together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese in almost equal proportions.The 2019 growing season is described by the producer as regular and well balanced, with useful spring rainfall and a summer that avoided extreme heat. Fermentation took place in stainless steel, followed by 18 months in French oak barriques and at least 6 months of bottle ageing. That ageing adds spice, cocoa, toast and chocolate tones, while the wine keeps its fruit-driven Tuscan core.
In this 1.5 litre magnum format, Il Borgo feels very much like a wine for the table.
