Flavour notes
La Chapelle de Haut-Bages Libéral 2019 opens in a bright, clear style, with red fruit, mint, soft spice and floral touches. Darker notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and cherry appear alongside cedar, iris and a hint of graphite. On the palate it is medium-bodied and juicy, with fresh fruit, lively acidity and supple, integrated tannins. The finish is smooth and measured, carrying enough length to show its Cabernet Sauvignon structure without becoming severe.

Product info about La Chapelle De Haut-bages Liberal 2019
La Chapelle de Haut-Bages Libéral 2019 shows the more approachable side of Château Haut-Bages Libéral while staying firmly rooted in Pauillac. It is the château's second wine, made from younger vines, with the 2019 blend built around 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot.Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine its shape and structure, while Merlot brings fruit and a softer drinking feel. The estate was certified organic in 2019 and was moving towards biodynamic certification at the time, adding an extra layer of context to a wine that remains very much about clarity, fruit and place.
The winemaking was carried out parcel by parcel, with 24 days of maceration and 12 months of ageing in a mix of one-wine barriques, egg-shaped vats and new barriques. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we like to present when someone wants Pauillac character with a slightly earlier-drinking expression. With only the last bottles remaining, the 2019 vintage has an added sense of occasion.

About CH HAUT BAGES LIBERAL
Château Haut-Bages Libëral is a French wine estate located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation of the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Médoc. The estate has a history dating back to the 18th century and owes its name to the Libëral family who managed it during that time. The vineyards of the château are favorably situated on the gravelly heights of the village of Bages, where they benefit from an exceptionally good location between renowned neighbors such as Château Latour and Château Pichon Baron. Haut-Bages Libëral was included in the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855 as Cinquième Grand Cru Classé. Today, the estate is owned by the Villars-Merlaut family, who are known for their commitment to sustainable and biodynamic viticulture practices. The wines of Château Haut-Bages Libëral are typically dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, and are known for their structure, elegance, and the typical Pauillac character. Because of its combination of rich history and meticulous care in the vineyard and cellar, this château has gained an established place within the classic offerings from Bordeaux.
