Alberelli Di Giodo Bianco 2021 is a white Terre Siciliane IGT wine from Sicily's Etna area. In the hands of Carlo Ferrini and Bianca Ferrini, Carricante is presented with real clarity: high altitude, volcanic soils, northern exposure and stainless-steel ageing rather than oak.The fruit comes from a tiny 0.40-hectare vineyard, with vines around 50 years old planted at 800 to 900 metres above sea level. Alberelli refers to the traditional alberello training system used in the vineyard. Only 3,000 bottles were produced in 2021, giving this wine a focused, small-scale feel within the Drankenshop Broekmans selection of Italian whites.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel, followed by ageing on fine lees. That detail matters here: it helps explain the wine's texture while keeping the Carricante's citrus, floral, saline and stony side at the centre. The 2021 vintage also received strong recognition from several respected wine publications, in a style that remains precise rather than showy.
Its fresh, mineral and saline profile makes a natural match for grilled fish, shellfish and seafood.
