L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne 2016 is a deeply concentrated sweet white wine from Sauternes, produced by Château Doisy-Daëne, a Deuxième Cru Classé of Sauternes and Barsac. This half bottle of 37.5 cl suits the nature of the cuvée well: L'Extravagant is made in very small quantities and only in great vintages.The 2016 vintage stands out because it is made from 100% sauvignon blanc. The grapes come from the Haut-Barsac plateau, where clay and limestone soils shape the vineyard setting. Harvesting is carried out by hand in successive selective passes, choosing grapes affected by noble rot at high concentration. Fermentation and ageing take place in barriques.
Its scale is remarkable, with residual sugar figures mentioned around 205 to 212 g/l, yet the available tasting information also points to pronounced freshness and aromatic tension. About CH DOISY DAENE
Château Doisy Daëne is a French winery located in the Barsac appellation in the Bordeaux region. The estate is mainly known for its sweet white wines, produced primarily from Sémillon grapes, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the château has been owned by the Dubourdieu family, who have built a strong reputation in both traditional and modern winemaking. The vineyards of Château Doisy Daëne benefit from the unique microclimate of Barsac, which offers ideal conditions for noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) and thus contributes to the character of the sweet dessert wines. In addition to the classic Barsac, the estate also produces dry white Bordeaux wines, which is relatively unusual for this appellation. The wines of Château Doisy Daëne are known for their freshness, aromatic complexity and structure, qualities that are appreciated internationally. The combination of experience, terroir and craftsmanship makes the château one of the cornerstones of the region.
