About CH MONTVIEL
Ch Montviel is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pomerol appellation on the right bank of the Dordogne River. The wine estate is among the smaller producers in Pomerol and is known for its distinctive, Merlot-driven wines. The estate comprises approximately 10 hectares of vineyards, planted mainly with Merlot and, to a lesser extent, Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are situated on typical Pomerol soils of clay, gravel, and sand, which contributes to the elegant and full style of the wine. Ch Montviel has been managed since the late 1980s by the renowned winewoman Sylvie Cazes, who has also been responsible for other prominent Bordeaux estates. In the cellar, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in oak barrels, with a portion of the wood being renewed annually. The style of Ch Montviel is often described as round, fruity, and with soft tannins, making the estate popular among lovers of approachable yet characterful Bordeaux wines.
