Chateau De Carlmagnus 2020 is a red Fronsac from Bordeaux, firmly in the Right Bank style, led by merlot with cabernet franc playing a supporting role. Its origin in Fronsac matters here: the vineyards are rooted in clay-limestone soils, with a limestone plateau forming an important part of the local terroir.The 2020 vintage is also presented as Imagine, with a label painted by the owner. That personal touch sits well with the way the wine is made. The grapes are selected and vinified without crushing to help preserve the fruit, followed by 12 to 14 months of ageing in barriques with a proportion of new oak.
