Product info about Chateau Lynch Bages 2020
Château Lynch-Bages 2020 marks an important chapter for the estate: it was the first vintage vinified in the château's new winery. For a Pauillac grand vin with the 1855 Grand Cru Classé status, that is more than a technical detail. It speaks to the level of precision behind the selection, handling and separate vinification of the different plots and grape varieties.Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The fruit comes from the Lynch-Bages vineyards south and southwest of Pauillac, planted on deep Garonne gravel soils that drain well and retain warmth. The 2020 vintage is described as ripe and concentrated, yet fresh, with firm, fully ripe tannins and the structure associated with long ageing.
After hand harvesting and careful sorting, the wine spent 18 months in French oak barriques, with a high proportion of new oak. The vintage also carries a one-off adapted label commemorating the new cellar.
