Product info about Chateau Beauregard 2020
Château Beauregard 2020 is the grand vin of Château Beauregard, a Pomerol estate on the south-eastern edge of the plateau. The wine comes from organically farmed vineyards with vines averaging around 35 years of age, rooted in clay and gravel soils. Its blend of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc gives the wine its ripe fruit depth, with the cabernet franc adding floral, herbal and fresh accents.The 2020 vintage in Pomerol was early and dry, shaped by a warm summer and crucial mid-August storms. For Beauregard, the year brought ripe grapes, concentration and retained freshness. The winemaking was highly precise: manual and optical sorting, parcel-by-parcel vinification in a gravity-fed cellar, and 18 months of ageing in French oak barriques, about half of them new, with part of the wine also raised in terracotta jars.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Pomerol with real structure and patience built into it. The tannins are present and firm, yet ripe and polished, giving the wine the framework for further bottle ageing. International critics have placed it around the 93 to 94 point mark, a useful indication of how strongly this vintage was received.
Serve it around 16 to 18 °C with dishes that can meet its depth: lamb, game, duck, slow-cooked meat or mature cheeses. With only the last bottles remaining, Château Beauregard 2020 feels like a wine to choose deliberately rather than casually.
