Product info about L'aventure Cuvee Estate 2017
L'Aventure Cuvee Estate 2017 is a dry red wine from Paso Robles with a full, concentrated style. It is made from estate-grown fruit from L'Aventure Vineyard and blends 49% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Petit Verdot. That mix of Rhône and Bordeaux varieties says a lot about the approach of winemaker Stephan Asseo, who came from Bordeaux and found in Paso Robles the freedom to work beyond French appellation rules.Maturation took place for 15 months in French oak, with a strong proportion of new oak. Malolactic fermentation was carried out in barrel, and the wine was bottled in March 2019 without fining or filtration. The result belongs firmly to the Estate Cuvée style: substantial, structured and shaped by ripe dark fruit, oak ageing and depth.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the sort of Californian red we would present to someone looking for power with a clear sense of origin and craftsmanship. The 2017 vintage received strong recognition from Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Vinous and James Suckling, while the producer indicates a cellaring potential of more than 20 years. As one of the last bottles, this vintage now has an added sense of rarity.

L'Aventure is a wine brand from the United States with roots in the Paso Robles region, Californiâ. The estate was founded in 1998 by the French winemaker Stephan Asseo, who, after years of experience in Bordeaux, decided to realize his own vision of winemaking in Californiâ. The vineyards are located in the western part of Paso Robles, an area known for its calcareous soils and distinctive Mediterranean climate. L'Aventure is especially known for its blends of Bordeaux and Rhône grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot. By combining traditional French techniques with the possibilities of Californian terroir, the winery is able to produce powerful and concentrated wines that are often characterized by depth and structure. The approach focuses on a low yield per hectare and a careful selection of grapes.
