L'Aventure Côte à Côte 2019 is a red wine from Paso Robles with a clear southern Rhône inspiration, shaped by the riper and more powerful setting of California. The blend brings together Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre in almost equal proportions, all grown on L'Aventure's own vineyard on the western side of Paso Robles.
Stephan Asseo's estate works here with estate-grown fruit, low yields and 14 months of maturation in a mix of French oak, concrete tank and amphora. That combination suits the identity of the cuvée: concentrated and full-bodied, yet carried by structure, freshness and clean fruit expression.

L'Aventure Cote A Cote 2020 is a red wine from Paso Robles, shaped as a Rhône-inspired blend with Grenache at its core, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre. All the fruit comes from L'Aventure Vineyard on the western side of Paso Robles, where warm days and cool nights help build slow ripening and a clear balance between ripeness, alcohol and acidity.
The estate was founded by Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker with a Bordeaux background who started in Paso Robles in 1998. Cote A Cote was first produced in 2003 and is positioned by the winery as a tribute to the southern Rhône, while keeping the identity of Paso Robles firmly in view. The 2020 vintage spent 14 months in a mix of French oak, concrete and amphora, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

L'Aventure Cote A Cote 2021 is a dry red wine from Paso Robles, shaped as a Southern Rhône-inspired blend with a distinctly Californian setting. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre are present in near-equal proportions, with Grenache just taking the lead, so the wine is less about one dominant grape and more about the meeting point of ripe fruit, savoury spice and structure.
The fruit comes from L'Aventure's own vineyard in the Willow Creek District, on the western side of Paso Robles. The reported yields for this vintage are very low, matching the concentrated style described in the tasting notes. Ageing took place over 16 months in a combination of French oak, concrete and amphora, and the producer notes that the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

L'Aventure Cuvee Estate 2017 is a dry red wine from Paso Robles with a full, concentrated style. It is made from estate-grown fruit from L'Aventure Vineyard and blends 49% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Petit Verdot. That mix of Rhône and Bordeaux varieties says a lot about the approach of winemaker Stephan Asseo, who came from Bordeaux and found in Paso Robles the freedom to work beyond French appellation rules.
Maturation took place for 15 months in French oak, with a strong proportion of new oak. Malolactic fermentation was carried out in barrel, and the wine was bottled in March 2019 without fining or filtration. The result belongs firmly to the Estate Cuvée style: substantial, structured and shaped by ripe dark fruit, oak ageing and depth.

L'Aventure Cuvee Estate 2019 is a powerful red wine from Paso Robles, made from estate-grown fruit from L'Aventure Vineyard on the western side of the region. In this vintage, the wine sat at the top of the estate's range; later vintages were renamed Estate Reserve by the producer.
Its personality comes from a blend of 50% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot. Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker with a Bordeaux background who began his Paso Robles project in 1998, uses that freedom to bring Syrah together with Bordeaux varieties outside the traditional French appellation system. Low yields and 15 months in French oak give the wine its depth, density and firm sense of structure.

L'Aventure Cuvee Estate 2020 is a full-bodied red wine from Paso Robles, built around an estate-grown blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. It brings together Rhône and Bordeaux varieties in a way that says a great deal about L'Aventure: this is not a wine shaped by old appellation rules, but by the possibilities of one vineyard.
The estate was founded by Stephan Asseo, who began working in Paso Robles in 1998 after his earlier Bordeaux background. The fruit comes from L'Aventure Vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles, where warm days, strong night-time cooling and ocean influence help support slow ripening, acidity and phenolic maturity.

L'Aventure Cuvée Estate 2021 is a red wine from Paso Robles, produced from estate-grown fruit from L'Aventure Vineyard in the Willow Creek District on the western side of the region. It is the estate's flagship cuvée, built around a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, bringing together Rhône and Bordeaux varieties in a distinctly Paso Robles way.
This 2021 vintage has a special place in the L'Aventure story. It marks the wine's 20th anniversary, presented with a dark blue anniversary label, and from the 2022 vintage onward the cuvée was renamed Estate Reserve. That makes the 2021 a meaningful vintage within the development of the estate as well as a serious wine in its own right.

L'Aventure Optimus 2019 is a red estate blend from Paso Robles, California, built around Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. That combination says a great deal about the estate's style: Rhône and Bordeaux varieties brought together in a Californian setting, shaped by winemaker and owner Stephan Asseo, who worked in Bordeaux before founding L'Aventure in Paso Robles in 1998.
The fruit comes entirely from L'Aventure Vineyard, with low yields, and the wine spent 14 months in French oak, most of it new. Barrel malolactic fermentation and bottling without fining or filtration point to a wine made with structure, texture and vineyard expression in mind rather than a polished, simplified style.

L'Aventure Optimus 2020 is a dry red blend from Paso Robles in California, made from estate-grown fruit at L'Aventure Vineyard. With Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot in the blend, it speaks in a dark-fruited, savoury and structured register, very much in the full-bodied Californian red wine tradition.
The estate was founded by Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker with a Bordeaux background who settled in Paso Robles in 1998 in search of greater freedom outside French appellation rules. Optimus is described by L'Aventure as the introduction to the range, though this is far from a simple entry-level wine. It reflects the west side of Paso Robles, where warm days and cooler nights play an important role in ripeness and freshness.

L'Aventure Optimus 2021 is a Paso Robles red that captures the estate's own approach to blending Rhône and Bordeaux varieties in California. The wine brings together Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all grown on L'Aventure Vineyard in the Willow Creek District. Optimus is positioned by the winery as an introduction to its range, yet the 2021 clearly carries serious depth, structure and vineyard character.
L'Aventure was founded in 1998 by Stephan Asseo, after his earlier work in Bordeaux. The estate sits on the western side of Paso Robles, where rolling terrain, complex well-drained soils and maritime influence help shape wines with ripe fruit and freshness. For this vintage, the fruit came from low yields, the malolactic fermentation took place in barrel, (…)
