Michele Chiarlo Faset Barbaresco 2020 is a Piedmont red wine with a very precise sense of place. It comes from the Faset cru in the commune of Barbaresco and is made entirely from nebbiolo. Within Michele Chiarlo's range, Faset sits among the cru wines: a single-vineyard Barbaresco produced in limited quantities and only in suitable vintages.The vineyard forms part of Cascina Cabanet and lies at roughly 210 to 270 metres above sea level, with a south-western exposure. The vines date back to 1965 and grow on grey-white calcareous marl with sandy veins and mineral components. That background helps explain the wine's emphasis on structure, pronounced minerality and fine tannins.
The cellar work follows a calm, traditional line: 17 to 18 days of skin contact in large oak vats, malolactic fermentation in cask, and at least two years of maturation, including 18 months in large oak. For the 2020 vintage, the healthy, ripe Faset grapes were harvested on 1 October, after a growing season in which sunny late-summer days and clear day-night temperature shifts supported gradual tannin ripening.

Michele Chiarlo is an Italian wine producer from Piemonte, founded in 1956 by Michele Chiarlo himself. The family company has been active since the beginning in one of the most highly regarded wine regions of Northern Italy, and has strongly focused on producing wines that reflect the character of the region. The vineyards of Michele Chiarlo are mainly located in the most famous Piemontese zones, including Barolo and Barbaresco for the red wines from the Nebbiolo grape, but also in regions such as Asti for Barbera and Moscato, among others.
