Michele Chiarlo Cipressi Nizza 2022 in magnum is a Piedmontese red wine made from Barbera and released under the Nizza DOCG designation. It comes from the historic Barbera area around Nizza Monferrato, where the grape is treated with real seriousness and a clear sense of origin.
The fruit is sourced from vineyards in the Castelnuovo Calcea-Mombercelli zone, connected to Tenuta La Court. The name Cipressi refers to the cypress trees on the hilltops, a small but telling link between the wine and its landscape. The vineyards sit at about 230 to 280 metres, with soils made up of Astian sands and Sant'Agata Fossili marls, including clay, limestone, silt, sand and marine-derived elements.
The 2022 growing season was dry and started early. To protect aromatic (…)Mc Barolo Cannubi 2017 Dubbele Magnum (3l)

Michele Chiarlo Barolo DOCG Cannubi 2017 in double magnum is the kind of bottle that immediately sets a particular tone. The 3-litre format already suggests a shared occasion, but the deeper interest lies in its origin: Cannubi, described by the producer as one of Barolo's best-known and historically oldest crus, with references dating back to 1752.
This red wine from Piedmont is made from nebbiolo grown in the Cannubi vineyard in the commune of Barolo. Michele Chiarlo has owned a parcel there since 1989, around one hectare in size, with vines planted in 1958 and 1990. The site sits at about 240 metres altitude, faces south to south-west, and is rooted in calcareous marl soils with sand and micro-elements such as iron and magnesium.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo DOCG Cerequio 2019 in double magnum is a Piemonte red wine with a very clear sense of place. Cerequio lies between La Morra and Barolo, and Michele Chiarlo's parcel sits at around 320 metres altitude, facing south-southwest, on calcareous clay marl soils of marine sedimentary origin.
Made from 100% nebbiolo, the wine comes from hand-harvested grapes. The producer describes 2019 as a classic vintage, with lower yields and strong quality. Winter and early spring rain and snow built up water reserves, while the later season brought favourable day-night temperature differences that supported gradual ripening.
The cellar work follows a patient route: fermentation and maceration for 20 days in oak vats, malolactic fermentation in vat, and a (…)Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Asili 2019

Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Asili 2019 comes from one of the most clearly defined origins within Barbaresco: the Asili vineyard in the commune of Barbaresco. This red wine from Piedmont is made entirely from Nebbiolo, sourced from around one hectare of vines planted in 1990.
For Michele Chiarlo, 2019 was a classic vintage, with a smaller crop but high quality. The Barbaresco wines showed colour and aromatic richness early, while keeping the structure and ageing potential that give this style its seriousness.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we like to present when origin, vintage and careful cellar work all matter. The grapes are hand-harvested, yields are managed by thinning excess bunches at the end of summer, and the production (…)Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Asili 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Asili 2019 in magnum is a wine with a strong sense of place. It comes from the Asili vineyard in the commune of Barbaresco, within the Barbaresco DOCG, and is made entirely from nebbiolo. The fruit is sourced from around one hectare of vines planted in 1990 on blue-grey calcareous marl with a small amount of clay.
There is a clear focus on selection and patience here. The grapes are hand-harvested, after summer thinning that leaves only a limited number of bunches on each vine. Fermentation and skin contact take 17 to 18 days in large oak vats, followed by malolactic fermentation in cask. The wine then matures for at least two years, including 18 months in oak casks, before further bottle ageing.
The producer describes 2019 as a (…)Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cannubi 2017

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cannubi 2017 is a dry red Barolo DOCG from Piedmont, made entirely from nebbiolo and rooted in one of the most closely identified sites of the appellation: Cannubi, in the commune of Barolo. Michele Chiarlo describes Cannubi as a historic cru recognised since 1752, and the estate has owned a parcel in its historic heart since 1989. That gives this wine a strong sense of place rather than simply a broad Barolo identity.
The fruit comes from around one hectare of vineyard, with vines planted between 1958 and 1990. The site sits at about 240 metres, facing south to south-west, on calcareous marl soils with sand, iron and magnesium. Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cannubi 2017 Magnum (1,5l)
On request only
Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cannubi 2017 Magnum brings together one of Barolo's most historic cru names with the generous presence of a 1.5 litre bottle. This red Barolo DOCG comes from Cannubi in the village of Barolo and is made from nebbiolo grown on Michele Chiarlo's own Cannubi parcel, held by the estate since 1989.
The parcel covers about one hectare in the historical heart of Cannubi. It sits at around 240 metres on a steep terraced slope, facing south to south-west, with calcareous marl soils that include sand, iron and magnesium. The 2017 growing season was marked by a long, very dry summer. In response, the estate worked carefully in the vineyard to preserve freshness in the grapes, including avoiding leaf removal and harvesting by hand slightly earlier than usual.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2010 is a dry red Barolo DOCG from Piedmont, made entirely from Nebbiolo grown in the Cerequio cru. The vineyard sits between La Morra and Barolo, with south to south-west facing plots at around 320 metres altitude, calcareous marl soils and vines planted, among others, in 1972 and 1990.
The 2010 vintage gives this wine a particularly compelling shape. A cooler growing cycle helped produce Barolo with greater elegance and higher acidity, while the wine still carries the firm structure expected from this site and grape. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see it as a Cerequio where concentration is matched by freshness, and where the tannins form part of the architecture rather than standing apart from it.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2018 comes from one of Barolo's clearly defined sites: the Cerequio cru, between La Morra and Barolo. Michele Chiarlo has bottled Cerequio as a separate cuvée since 1988, made from 100% nebbiolo. The fruit comes from a 3-hectare vineyard at around 320 metres above sea level, with a south-southwest exposure, vines planted in 1972 and 1990, and calcareous clay marl soils.
The 2018 vintage had a distinctive growing season. Snow and rain in winter and spring replenished water reserves after the dry 2017 season, followed by a warm, dry summer. In the vineyard, part of the crop was removed to help the remaining grapes ripen evenly, and harvest took place from 6 to 10 October, in the classic Barolo window. Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2019 comes from one of the clearly defined sites of the Barolo DOCG: the Cerequio vineyard, set between La Morra and Barolo. This is a wine built around place. The nebbiolo comes from a three-hectare parcel with vines planted between 1972 and 1990, at around 320 metres altitude with a south-southwest exposure.
Michele Chiarlo describes 2019 as a classic vintage. Winter water reserves, spring rain, summer warmth and favourable day-night temperature differences in September and early October shaped a lower-yielding harvest of high-quality grapes. The fruit was hand-picked, and the wine matured for at least three years, including two years in medium-sized oak casks before further bottle ageing.

Cerequio is not just a broad indication on the label; it refers to a specific vineyard setting. The site lies at around 320 metres, with a south-southwest exposure and calcareous clay-marl soils of marine sedimentary origin. The vines used for this wine were planted between 1972 and 1990. For the 2019 vintage, the grapes were harvested by hand in early October, after a growing season marked by good water reserves and significant day-night temperature differences towards the end of ripening.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio Riserva 2010 is rooted in one clearly defined place: Cerequio, a historic Barolo cru between La Morra and Barolo. The wine is made from Nebbiolo grown in a small selection within the vineyard, with vines planted in 1972 on calcareous marl and clay soils at around 350 metres altitude.
For Michele Chiarlo, 2010 was a classic year, helped by a sunny, dry September in the final stretch before harvest. This Riserva is produced only in excellent vintages and in limited quantities. After hand harvesting, it was given a long maturation before release: around three years in large wooden casks, followed by three years of bottle ageing.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio Riserva 2016 comes from a very specific corner of Piedmont: the historic Cerequio cru, between La Morra and Barolo. For this Riserva, Michele Chiarlo uses nebbiolo from a 0.90-hectare parcel planted in 1972. That gives the wine a clear sense of place from the start: this is not a broad interpretation of Barolo, but a focused expression of one carefully defined vineyard area.
According to the producer, the Riserva is made only in exceptional vintages. The 2016 season was regular, without significant weather irregularities, and brought healthy, evenly ripe grapes. After green harvesting at the end of August, ripening continued on a smaller number of bunches, helped by sunny days and cool nights. The nebbiolo for Barolo was harvested by hand (…)Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio Riserva 2016 Magnum (1,5l)

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Tortoniano 2018 is a Piedmontese Barolo whose name points straight to its origin: Tortonian soils of ancient calcareous clay marl, with a marine sedimentary background and active limestone. For this wine, that soil reference is part of the character rather than a decorative detail. The wine is made from nebbiolo grown in selected vineyards long associated with the Chiarlo family.
The 2018 growing season brought renewed water reserves after the dry 2017 vintage, thanks to snow and rain in winter and spring. A warm, dry summer followed, while the final weeks before harvest were marked by mild days and cool nights. The grapes were harvested by hand between 6 and 10 October, after careful crop thinning in the vineyard.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Tortoniano 2018 is a red wine from Piedmont, made entirely from nebbiolo within the Barolo DOCG appellation. In this 37.5 cl half bottle, it offers the character of Barolo in a smaller and very useful format, especially when a full bottle is more than you need.
Tortoniano refers to ancient Tortonian soils: grey calcareous and tuffaceous marl of marine sedimentary origin. That origin is central to the identity of the wine. The grapes were harvested by hand, and the 2018 vintage required careful vineyard work, including thinning a substantial part of the crop to support healthy ripening.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel, followed by extended maturation in medium and large wooden casks and further bottle ageing. At Drankenshop (…)Michele Chiarlo Barolo Tortoniano 2018 Magnum (1,5l)

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Tortoniano 2018 in magnum is a Barolo built around place and patience. The name Tortoniano refers to Tortonian soils: calcareous clay marl of ancient marine sedimentary origin. For the 2018 vintage, the nebbiolo grapes come from Chiarlo's Cerequio and Cannubi vineyards, giving this wine a clear sense of origin within Barolo.
The growing season adds another layer to the story. After a wet late winter and spring, a warm, dry summer followed. Because fruit set was generous, 30 to 35% of the bunches were thinned out. Mild days and cool nights towards the end of summer and through September allowed gradual ripening, with harvest taking place from 6 to 10 October.

Michele Chiarlo Cipressi Nizza 2019 is a Piedmontese red wine from the Nizza DOCG appellation, made entirely from barbera. The fruit comes from Castelnuovo Calcea, within the historic production area around Nizza Monferrato, and is linked to the Tenuta La Court estate. The name Cipressi refers to the cypress trees on one of the estate's hills, a small but evocative detail that ties the wine directly to its place of origin.
The 2019 vintage was modest in volume according to the producer, yet strong in quality. Winter water reserves were followed by a warm, dry summer, while the final month before harvest brought mild days and cool nights. That contrast helped retain freshness and tension alongside the structure associated with Nizza.

Michele Chiarlo Cipressi Nizza 2019 Magnum is a red wine from Piedmont, produced in the Nizza DOCG appellation from 100% barbera. In the 1.5 litre magnum format it feels immediately well suited to the table, while remaining very clearly rooted in Castelnuovo Calcea, within the Nizza area of Asti.
The fruit comes from vineyards connected with Tenuta La Court, an estate that plays an important role in Michele Chiarlo's Nizza DOCG wines. The vines average around twenty years of age and grow on soils of Asti sand over Sant'Agata marl, with clay, limestone, silt and sand. That background helps place the wine: Barbera fruit, but with structure, freshness and a sense of depth.

Michele Chiarlo Countacc Monferrato 2016 is a Piedmontese red with a slightly different voice within the Michele Chiarlo range. The wine comes from Monferrato DOC and places Barbera at its centre, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. That combination gives Countacc a broader frame than the house's more classical Barbera and Nebbiolo wines.
Michele Chiarlo was founded in 1956 in Calamandrana, in an area closely associated with Barbera. Countacc draws on that Monferrato identity, while the use of barrique ageing adds another layer to its full, dark-coloured style. It is a wine built around ripe fruit, structure and a clear touch of oak influence.
The 2016 vintage adds meaningful context. Michele Chiarlo regarded it as a very strong year for Piedmont, (…)Michele Chiarlo Faset Barbaresco 2020

The vineyard forms part of Cascina Cabanet and lies at roughly 210 to 270 metres above sea level, with a south-western exposure. The vines date back to 1965 and grow on grey-white calcareous marl with sandy veins and mineral components.
