Duluc de Branaire-Ducru 2019 is the second wine of Château Branaire-Ducru in Saint-Julien, Bordeaux. It carries the signature of a 1855 Quatrième Grand Cru Classé estate, but in a more approachable interpretation of the château's style.The 2019 blend is built around Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller proportions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Duluc is made from part of the estate's vineyards, including younger vines, and the work in the cellar remains precise: separate vinification by grape variety and parcel, followed by 12 months in French oak barrels, around 20% of them new. The oak is there to support the wine rather than dominate its fruit.
The growing season adds an interesting layer to the story. After a cool, damp spring, the warmer summer helped the vines catch up, while rain in late September helped refine the tannins and avoid excessive sugar concentration. That background fits the producer's own description of Duluc: fruit, freshness and finesse, without heaviness or over-extraction.

Château Branaire-Ducru is a well-known winery from the French Bordeaux region, more specifically from the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. The winery traces its roots back to the 17th century and has been classified as Quatrième Grand Cru Classé since 1855, which places it in the fourth category of classified Bordeaux wines within the famous classification of that year. The vineyards cover about 60 hectares and are situated on well-drained gravel soils, which is favorable for the ripening of the grapes. Château Branaire-Ducru focuses strongly on the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, typical for the region. The house style is generally characterized by elegant structure, balance, and a refined expression of fruit, without overly heavy extraction. Under the leadership of the Maroteaux family, who have managed the château since the late 1980s, there has been continuous investment in quality and the modernization of techniques, with respect for tradition. In addition to the main wine, the estate also produces a second wine, Duluc de Branaire-Ducru. The name Branaire-Ducru refers to the history of the estate and former owners, which contributes to the rich character of the winery.
