Flavour notes

The wine shows a ruby-red colour in the glass. Aromatically, it brings together redcurrant, raspberry and blackcurrant with blackberry and black cherry, followed by violets, dried flowers, mint and spice. Pencil shavings, tobacco, graphite, chocolate and a subtle brioche or toast note add further detail.

On the palate it is fresh, precise and medium to medium-full in body, with juicy red and dark fruit. The tannins are fine and well integrated, the acidity is lively, and a mineral, lightly saline undertone runs through the wine. The finish carries fruit, menthol, spice, liquorice and graphite, supported by a silky texture.

Product info about Chateau D'armailhac 2021

Chateau D'Armailhac 2021 is a dry red Bordeaux from Pauillac, from a château ranked as a 5th Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. It is the grand vin of Château d'Armailhac, part of the Rothschild family's Pauillac estates, and the blend is firmly rooted in the Médoc tradition: Cabernet Sauvignon in the lead, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small share of Petit Verdot.

The château describes 2021 as a more classical, fresh and balanced vintage with structure. The growing season asked for precision, with a wet and mild winter, cool and humid periods in spring and early summer, then drier weather in August and early September that helped the vineyard recover and supported the development of tannins and fruit aromas. Harvest took place from 28 September to 8 October.

The wine was made with a traditional Bordeaux approach: hand harvesting, sorting, destemming and parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. It then matured for around 18 months in French oak barriques, roughly half new oak and half one-wine barrels. The 2021 vintage also marks the first year made in the château's new cellar facilities.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pauillac we like to place in front of customers who appreciate origin, classification and vintage identity in the same bottle. Availability is now limited, making it a particularly relevant choice for those looking for a classic red Bordeaux with freshness, structure and ageing potential.

The wine shows a ruby-red colour in the glass.
